Barranca Landscape is a landscape construction company serving landscape architects, homeowners, and designers throughout greater Southern California. With many years of experience, Barranca brings craft, care, and technical expertise to the construction of enduring garden and outdoor spaces.
Our work is rooted in a deep respect for the environment we work in. Utilizing natural materials, native and drought-tolerant planting, and landscapes that feel grounded in Southern California ecology. From intimate residential gardens to complex, highly detailed landscape installations, we understand how to build spaces that are beautiful, functional, and resilient.

Our approach is collaborative. We work closely with designers and homeowners from a project's inception through its completion, remaining involved at every stage to ensure that each plant, stone, and landscape element is as intended.
Regardless of the design, we strive to realize its execution, contributing a refined understanding of feasibility and solving complex challenges with the most sound, creative, and reliable solutions.
Owner and landscape contractor Carmen Orozco grew up between Jalisco and Zacatecas, where he spent his childhood tending his father's fruit orchard and caring for the land. Before coming to Southern California in the 1980s, Carmen learned firsthand the patience, skill, and attention that good work requires.
After decades of building landscapes throughout Southern California, Carmen founded Barranca Landscape and grew the company alongside his brother, Steve Orozco, and a skilled crew with deep experience in grading, drainage, planting, stonework, masonry, and site construction. For more than a decade, Barranca has worked closely with leading landscape architects and designers, building more than 200 projects across Southern California, including a long-standing partnership with Terremoto.
Today, Barranca brings that experience to every project, from the first day on site through final installation. The crew takes pride in careful execution, durable construction, and working collaboratively with designers, clients, and each other to build landscapes that are made to last.
The name Barranca comes from Carmen's childhood home, a place below the cliffs in the countryside of Mexico. As a child, Carmen and his family were known as "the barranca boys." The name carries a reminder of humble beginnings where the family came from and the values that continue to guide their work today.
Barranca oversees landscape construction from start to finish, coordinating crews and subcontractors, ordering materials, managing schedules, and keeping the work moving smoothly and efficiently on site. Maintaining consistent communication with clients about project delivery and status is high priority.
Our crews handle demolition, grading, drainage, irrigation, planting, boulder placement, woodwork, concrete, stonework, and masonry. For specialized work, we coordinate with a trusted network of experienced collaborators.
Our in-house landscape designers work closely with clients to develop thoughtful designs, rooted in southern California ecology and aesthetic. From early concepts through construction, the team work together to realize the unique vision and goals for each project.
